Position summary:
- The Product Sustaining Engineer is responsible for the analysis and resolution of Hardware reliability, HW performance, and HW obsolescence issues for the assigned LRU(s) (Line Replaceable Units).
- The PSE will be responsible for providing technical support of assigned LRUs including performance and failure analysis, investigation of problematic LRUs and SRUs and solution development for all LRUs (production and in-service)
- He/She is accountable for development, deployment, and management of the relevant solutions for component return to service testing across the global Thales and Customer repair station networks as well as generation and dissemination of approved technical data for use across these networks.
- The PSE is also responsible for the deployment of the available solutions to customers, contract manufacturers, and repair stations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related discipline with 5-8 years of relevant experience
- Interpret mechanical and electrical wiring diagrams.
- 5-8 years’ experience in hardware analyses, and definition of hardware requirements, hardware failure investigations, cost and risk analyses, support analyses and predictive assessments.
- Possess hands-on experience with processor boards, power supply design, testing processes, and field failure investigations.
- Skilled in schematic design, Bill of Materials (BOM) creation using PLM tools, and preparation of design documentation.
- Experienced in LRU failure analysis and identification of root causes.
- Proficient in operating test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscopes, power supplies, clamp meters, and signal generators.
- Experienced in leading RCCA activities, evaluating risks, and developing cross-disciplinary risk mitigation strategies.
- Capable of analyzing hardware system architectures, with a focus on integration issues, product lifecycle management, end-of-life considerations, obsolescence, and sustainability.
- Familiar with DO-160 standards for EMI and environmental testing.
- Understand LRU operating systems (Linux), low-level software design and concepts (including boot sequence and file system definition), and effectively explain the interaction between software and hardware.
- Experienced in basic Linux shell scripting.
- Knowledgeable about IPC electronics standards.
