Established in 1981, the JD Group is a leading global omnichannel retailer of Sports, Fashion, and Outdoor brands. JD continuously and successfully sets the global standard for retail experience best through the unique delivery of the world’s most authentic brands to the market.

Our commitment to showcasing brands in a premium environment and stores remains a key part of the JD strategy.

The Role

As a Product Designer, you’ll design digital shopping experiences that feel effortless, intuitive, and bold. You’ll work alongside product managers, developers, merchandisers, and marketers to bring the JD brand to life online. From wireframes to final UI—every touchpoint matters, and you’ll own the details.

This role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of digital product design experience, preferably in ecommerce (Mobile & Desktop) or direct-to-consumer. You’ve shipped real features, collaborated in Agile environments, and know how to balance design excellence with business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive, conversion-optimized user experiences across homepage, PLP, PDP, cart, checkout, and account flows.

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

  • Champion responsive, mobile-first design best practices.

  • Work closely with product managers, web merchandisers, marketing, and operations to understand business goals, user problems, and feature requirements.

  • Collaborate with developers during hand-off and QA to ensure design integrity through to launch.

  • Partner with content, merchandising, and marketing to ensure design consistency and brand alignment.

  • Participate in (or lead) user research, usability testing, and data-driven iteration cycles.

  • Incorporate insights from GA4, Dynamic Yield experiments, customer feedback, and heatmaps.

  • Help evolve and maintain our design system for JD Sports Canada—aligned with global standards but tailored for local experiences.

  • Ensure visual consistency across all ecommerce touchpoints.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience designing digital products, preferably in ecommerce or retail.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing ecommerce UX/UI work across desktop and mobile.

  • Proficiency in Figma (preferred), Sketch, or Adobe XD.

  • Comfortable working in Startup & Agile environments with developers, PMs, and marketers.

  • A sharp eye for detail, paired with a pragmatic mindset—shipping beats perfection.

  • Experience with A/B testing, conversion optimization, or personalization tools is a plus.

  • Bonus: Familiarity with Shopify Plus, Algolia, or Dynamic Yield.

Portfolio Submission

Please include a link to your portfolio with your application. We’re looking for:

  • 2–3 case studies that demonstrate your end-to-end product design process—from problem discovery and research through to final UI and shipped results.

  • Examples of ecommerce or consumer-facing work (Desktop & Mobile).

  • A clear explanation of your role in each project, especially within cross-functional teams.

  • Any performance insights or results that highlight the impact of your design decisions (e.g., increased conversion, reduced drop-off, improved engagement).

We’re less interested in polished mockups alone—we want to see how you think, collaborate, and iterate.
